The Fashionable Frequent Flyers

Hello Fashionable Frequent Flyers readers. Your favorite hotel reviewer is checking in with a recap and review of my exquisite stay at The Melrose Georgetown Hotel in the nation’s capital. Over the past 3 years, several readers and followers on my Instagram have asked me what hotel I’d recommend in Washington DC. I’ve stayed at several, and often provided these as options, but I’m glad I finally have a hotel that I can wholeheartedly recommend. Located in the heart of Georgetown, which is my favorite neighborhood in DC by the way, this unique gem of a hotel gives you everything you could possibly ask of a boutique. Here are three reasons why you should book your next stay at Melrose Georgetown.

First, this hotel is the epitome of elegant. The decor and aesthetics are incredibly well put together, giving a sophisticated and modern feel, which is unlike any other DC hotel. Several hotels in the capital tend to adopt aesthetics that skew very corporate and vanilla, but Melrose eschewed that lackluster approach and instead adopted a bold and stylish, yet elegant design style. While this translated throughout the entire hotel, the place it resonated most deeply was in the presidential suite. The color palette of the different rooms, the different design elements adopted, including jaw-dropping chandeliers and unique centerpieces, and an impressive layout oozed sophistication and class at every turn. I have stayed in many presidential suites, but this one is like no other!!

Second, the service at the hotel is absolutely stellar. You feel the warmth of the staff from the second you arrive, and it permeates through every department and for the entire duration of your stay. It’s the sort of warmth that truly makes you feel at home. I was especially blown away by the staff at Jardanea (the hotel’s in-house restaurant)– that is likely the best restaurant service I have ever received. Melrose Georgetown has set itself apart as a hotel that truly cares about and invests in the guest experience.

Last but not least, the hotel is located in a prime spot. Where you stay in DC dictates, in part, what kind of experience you’re going to have. If you select a hotel in Navy Yard, you’re likely to be out partying and hanging out with a younger crowd. If you’re closer to the downtown area, you’re with the corporate and political folks and everyone is rushing to their next meeting. Georgetown is a peaceful, quiet, and gorgeous part of DC that allows you take in the capital as a visitor, and still be within close proximity of many museums, DC must-see sights, and the great culinary scene. It also has a bit of a neighborhood feel, so it feels like you’re immersed with the locals. These are just some of the reasons that I truly like this part of DC.

Melrose Georgetown gets the coveted 4.5/5 star FFF rating. Check out this video for more visuals. I highly recommend booking your next stay here.
