The Fashionable Frequent Flyers

Hello travelers! It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me — I’ve not been on the move much and was taking a much deserved break. But, like any seasoned traveler, the itch eventually returned, and so I planned a quick domestic getaway. One piece of travel propaganda I do NOT believe in is that domestic travel “isn’t real travel.” While ordinarily I’d love to visit Dallas this time of year to watch my beloved Mavericks play in the playoffs, we all know why that wasn’t an option this year (and I’ll hear no more of it), but nevertheless I still wanted to visit this city that I so cherish!

I’ve been to several Dallas hotels, all of which have been wonderful. I’m delinquent in providing y’all with a blog post on those; but I’ll get right on that. However, I’d be lying if I didn’t tell y’all that this stay was my favorite of the bunch. The JW Marriot Dallas is a gem in the heart of the Arts District in Dallas, and is an exquisite modern hotel with an incomparable vibe.

First, let’s discuss the hotel aesthetics. As soon as you walk into the hotel lobby, you’re greeted with a sleek look that exudes luxury. The lobby is located on the ground floor, where the check in process takes place, and is adjacent to a beautiful rest area and lobby bar. Nothing else is located on this floor. Guests then take the elevator to the 11th floor, where Montage restaurant, the rooftop/terrace pool, the JW Market (for grab and go), and the meeting and ballrooms are located. Think of it as the central floor that sort of leads to everything. It’s all so beautifully set up. Thereafter, you can take a separate set of elevators to the floors with rooms. Modern and excellent design.

Second, let’s talk about be the suite accommodations. If you’ve been a reader of this blog for some time, you know that one of my biggest tips to elevating your stay to a new level of luxury is securing a specialty suite offering at your hotel. Here, we stayed at the Vice Presidential Suite. WHEEEWWWWW, what an incredible accommodation. It featured a living room, dining area, one and a half bathrooms, king room, multiple big screen TVs, kitchen and bar, and a panoramic view of the city!! This might be the most stylish city room I’ve ever stayed in. The pictures below don’t even do it justice!!

Third, the service was superb! None of our needs were left wanting, and this applied in our suite, at the pool, at Montage; everywhere in the hotel. It was clear that the staff cares about their guests and wanted to ensure that everyone was well taken care of. I also want to thank the JW Team for tickets to the Beethoven x Beyoncé concert by the Dallas Symphony, which they co-sponsored. Linda and I had a blast — what a treat.

Finally, I just want to give a special mention to the food from Montage Restaurant. Linda and I ate three of our meals during the weekend at this restaurant and we kept coming back because it was so just so good!! Even if you don’t stay at the JW, I’d recommend visiting Montage — it’s absolutely awesome, and the decor is stunning so also makes for a romantic setting!

This stay earned a solid FFF 5 star rating!! For more visuals, check out my reel on the property!
