Stay Onera: The Ultimate Luxury Retreat in Fredericksburg Wine Country
Exploring unique luxury stays around the world is one of my greatest passions. This quest has brought me to Texas Hill Country, Stay Onera in Fredericksburg, and it has combined two things that Justin and I love—LUXURY and NATURE. This 13-acre retreat is known for its eco-conscious design, panoramic views, and immersive experience. But does it live up to the hype? Let’s break it down.
Stay Onera isn’t your typical boutique retreat, this high-end nature stay redefines luxury stays with its blend of modern architecture, eco-conscious design, and immersive natural surroundings. Spread across 13 acres of secluded land, this boutique offers 12 uniquely designed suites that range from elevated treehouses and modern tiny homes to safari tents. Each unit is designed to provide privacy, seclusion, and direct access to nature while maintaining modern comforts. It’s the kind of place where you can experience multiple unique stays over a few days or return to explore more of its offerings over time.
Justin and I stayed in The Sage Safari Suite and The Walnut House—one offering a safari-inspired glamping experience, while the other provided a sleek, modern container house retreat—both completely different but equally stunning accommodations that showcased Stay Onera’s attention to detail.

The Sage Safari Suite – A Luxe Glamping Dream
This suite felt like a safari escape in the heart of Texas. With a canvas tent-style structure elevated off the ground, it combined the outdoorsy feel of a safari lodge with five-star amenities.
• Best feature? The outdoor soaking tub—nothing beats unwinding under the Texas sky.
• Interior vibes? Earthy tones, cozy textures, and large windows that made us feel completely connected to nature. We saw a family of deer on both mornings of our stay!
• Perfect for? Those who love a glamping-style experience without sacrificing comfort.

The Walnut House – A Sleek, Modern Treehouse
If the Sage Safari Suite was all about nature, the Walnut House leaned into contemporary luxury. This elevated treehouse had a striking design with floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing natural light to pour in while offering unobstructed views of the landscape.
• Best feature? The private deck with a fire pit is perfect for sipping wine and stargazing.
• Interior vibes? Minimalist, stylish, and ultra-modern with warm wood accents.
• Perfect for? Those who want a private, romantic retreat with top-tier amenities.

What made Stay Onera truly unforgettable was how seamlessly it blended modern luxury with nature, from waking up to seeing a family of deer through the floor-to-ceiling windows to soaking in a private hot tub under a sky full of stars. I also loved the infinity pool, sauna, and treehouse set up as a guest amenity. It really added to the magic of my experience. From the sleek architectural designs that felt like an extension of the landscape to the thoughtful amenities like private hot tubs, fire pits, and floor-to-ceiling windows that made every moment feel immersive, the experience was nothing short of magical.
The serene location provided the perfect retreat—secluded yet close enough to enjoy the charm of Fredericksburg. Plus, the vibrant wine bars on West Main Street are just a five-minute drive away! On both nights, we went wine bar hopping, stopping by Six Twists and enjoying a wine flight at Elk Store Winery & Distillery. If we had stayed an extra day, we likely would have visited one of the nearby wineries.
Overall, I’d give this stay a solid 4/5! The property was beautiful, and our host went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable experience. There was some ongoing construction in the morning, but as soon as we reached out, they swiftly relocated us to The Walnut House, a quieter spot on the opposite side of the property. Their attentiveness made all the difference, and I can only imagine how fantastic the stay would be once the construction is complete!
If you’re looking for a mix of tranquility and easy access to Fredericksburg’s wine scene, this is an excellent choice!
