The Fashionable Frequent Flyers

I’ve been to Florida many times and I have stayed in many a hotel in Miami! I had the pleasure of staying at Acqualina Resort this past summer and I’m happy to report that I’ve found the best hotel in Miami. Located in Sunny Isles, just north of North Beach, this beautiful resort is one of the few hotels on Miami Beach that has direct access to the beach, without obstruction or intervention from the board walk. There are four pools and two jacuzzis around the resort, all of which have their own identity, including, my personal favorite, the adults-only pool. Check out all of these features here on my Instagram page. The hotel boasts stunning outdoor decor, embracing bold bright red, which gives it a very Mediterranean feel. All the details just really come together at this Miami marvel.

Let’s talk about the accommodation! We stayed in a one-bedroom suite and it was remarkable. As a New Yorker, I can genuinely say that this suite is bigger than a good chunk of apartments in Manhattan. It has a living room, dining room, kitchen, study, incredibly large and beautiful bathroom, with both a shower and a bathtub, stunning bedroom and a wrap around deck that you can access from both the bedroom and living room. The interior decor is very chic, embracing modern styling and leaning heavily on white and off-white shades. Everything about this room is slick. What’s more, the staff at Acqualina welcomed us with a wonderful bottle of Veuve Cliquot and a lovely fruit assortment. It felt like we just arrived to our home away from home. Here’s a video of the room tour.

Oh, and the service! My goodness, the service! The difference between a really good hotel and a great hotel is usually the service. Great hotel service leaves an impact on the guests — you remember individual’s names, you look forward to meeting staff the next day, your interactions are seamless, and none of your needs/wants are left uncatered. This was my experience at Acqualina to a tee. The service was superb throughout the hotel, regardless of whether it was poolside, beachside, at the bars, housekeeping, restaurant staff at the resort restaurants; it genuinely made no difference — what you got was excellence throughout! I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. My only regret is that I didn’t get any photos with some of them to share here.

Final thing I’ll mention is that both Avra and Il Mulino, which were the resort’s flagship restaurants, were both remarkable and you should absolutely eat there! My rating for this hotel is a solid 5*.
