The Fashionable Frequent Flyers

If you’ve been following us and our blog for a while, you know that we’re enamored by unique stays. As we continue our journey around the world, we were fortunate enough to be hosted at the Namushasha River Villa by Gondwana Collection. This is one of the most unique properties I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.

So here’s the deal: from the Namushasha River Lodge, you take a short boat ride on the Kwando River to the Villa. The Villa is situated right in the middle of the river, with only the marsh, the crocs, hippos, birds, and lechwe around you!! Once we arrived at the Villa, our amazing guide Boster walked us through the two-story marvel! This villa was OPULENT!!

First things first, this villa is designed for couples! The whole setup is tailor-made for the perfect romantic experience! On the bottom floor, there’s a living room area, a dining table for two, a full bar featuring top-shelf liquor, a full fridge stocked for 4 full days of food, and a kitchen area. There’s also a deck with barbecue gear and you know what that means, time to heat up some brai on the River :). On the top floor, there’s a king-size bed, a gorgeous bathroom, and another deck with some beautiful seats that are perfect for unwinding and reading a book! Fast-speed Wifi is also included. On this houseboat, you want for NOTHING!!

What to bring? The Namushasha staff are kind enough to bring your belongings to the villa on the boat ride and set you up! The villa has everything you need, including some of the most comfy robes and sleepers I’ve used at any hotel. I’d recommend carrying bug spray— you are on the River after all, and when you spend time outside, you want to protect yourself. The windows for the boat have nets to keep the bugs out.

My only regret about our time at the villa is that we spent one night instead of two! When you visit Northern Namibia, make sure you check this villa out!
