The Fashionable Frequent Flyers

European summer was a vibe, travel family! On my three-country mini-tour across Europe, I made a stop in Germany where I stayed at both Berlin and Hamburg. Berlin was a very interesting city to visit–so rich in history, very heavy history at that. I was very impressed at how the city was facing its history directly and teaching people of the dark past of the Hitler and Cold War eras. It’s certainly something that I wish America would do!! Anywaaayyy before I go down this rabbit hole, let’s talk about the grown and sexy hotel I stayed at — The Provocateur Hotel. Even the name just sounds so inviting. So, what was my stay like?

First, let’s discuss aesthetics! This might be one of the slickest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. It certainly was the sexiest. The hotel chose red as it’s color and they embraced the hell out of it. Not just red, but RED VELVET! It was just ooozing drip all over. The bar area specifically was just “chef’s kiss.” And even during my stay, apparently the bar is a real spot for the locals and I can see why. I cannot speak highly enough about this spot — side note: maybe decor for my future home? haha.

Second, the service! I thought the service was mostly excellent. The staff at the reception/welcome desk were very friendly and always happy to help. I loved getting myself a glass of champagne as a welcome drink (y’all know I love my bubbles). The bar staff and waitstaff were mostly good. Really the only hiccups I experienced were delayed service to the room and for a lunch meal downstairs and, for whatever reason, a lack of adaptors to accommodate the Europe to US plug transition. Every single hotel I’ve stayed at in Europe had one of those except this one. Other than that, service was spectacular! If you’re visiting here, bring your adapters folks.

Finally, the amenities. This is the biggest shortcoming of this slick hotel. It unfortunately doesn’t have much to offer other than room, a bar, and food. There’s no gym, no pool, no club room, no spa etc. Now, the hotel may not be designed for that, and that’s totally fine. But given how slick and sexy it is, it may be worth investing in some of these other amenities–at least a fitness area and maybe even a pool. I will note that if you want to work out, you can get a pass to a nearby gym, so there’s that option; though, a little inconvenient. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that some of the upgraded rooms do have additional bedroom amenities, including free standing tubs (a personal fave) and even a projector with some unique black-and-white visual video art.

In all, I’d give this hotel a solid rating of 4/5 stars! Click here to check out our other hotel ratings!
