If you’re a previous reader of my work or a consumer of my Instagram content, you know that the Maasai Mara is my favorite place on planet Earth. Something about being out in the wild puts me at peace: the air is clearer, the silence is calming, and watching animals in their natural habitat brings me so much joy! Picking the perfect place to stay in the Maasai Mara is critical to the experience — when you’re not out on game drives or excursions, you’re usually spending your downtime at your lodge of choice. The Maasai Mara has many offerings, many that are good, some that are not so good, and then a very small minority that is spectacular. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we’re here — to discuss one of the spectacular. I’m here to tell you three reasons you should choose Fairmont Mara Safari Club for your Maasai Mara Trip.
Reason 1
The lodge and accommodations are stunning! As a luxury traveler, one of the things I pay close attention to when searching for the perfect place to stay is aesthetic differentiation. What sets one accommodation apart from the rest? This is especially important when looking in a place like the Mara which has many properties to choose from. Fairmont Mara has set itself by being one of the most beautiful lodges in the Mara. First, its location in the conservancy is perfect. It’s located right on the edge of the Mara River, which has many ideal locations for hippo-watching. Second, the design and decor are African chic — everything from the rooms to the main lobby area gives an aura of African excellence. The newly renovated bar is one of my favorite installations. Honestly, just bring your camera and take a ton of photos! You won’t regret it!
Reason 2
The food is amaaaazzzing! Now, if you’ve ever stayed at any Fairmont, you know that food quality is important to this hotel brand. At Fairmont Mara, you get top-notch Kenyan cuisine in addition to a host of other culinary experiences from around the world. The Chef — Chef Haziz — has received the best training and worked all over the world. He and his team really know how to expose your pallet to a range of tastes. Our best culinary experience was the personal lunch we did with Chef Haziz, where we picked all of our vegetables from the lodge’s organic garden and enjoyed both a freshly made salad as well as a stir-fried dish. Everything was bespoke and this meal was so special. I can’t thank Chef Haziz enough for this experience.
Reason 3
Finally, the service!! The service at Fairmont Mara was beyond spectacular! Everyone, from our guide, Mike, our F&B staff, Dennis and Martin, and everyone else we had the pleasure of interacting with contributed to making our experience special. Every detail was taken care of with precision and there was no part of the trip that we felt was unaccounted for. For frequent flyers, there’s nothing we value more than excellent service! Fairmont Mara exceeded every bar for super service!
