Volcano Eco Retreat, A Sustainable Oasis for Eco Travelers
Summertime is almost here and if you’re looking for a lush, plant-based eco-hotel to spend your PTO, Volcano Eco Retreat has you covered! If you’re an eco-conscious traveler, you’ll find solace in this sustainable oasis that offers a true escape from the hectic world while leaving a minimal carbon footprint. It doesn’t get any better than that! That being said, I am rating this hotel based on location, aesthetics, cuisine, and service.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let’s talk location. VER is ideally situated between Hilo and the Volcano National Park. For context, both are on the east side of the Big Island. On the east side, there’s plenty to do. You can visit KÄ«lauea volcano, Akaka Falls, and the Kaumana Caves to start. So already by location alone, you’ve got a winner!
Next up, let’s talk aestehtics. The breathtaking beauty of VER is definitely something to brag about. It’s extremely lush surrounded by tropical plants and bamboo. Our garden-view bungalow was a haven of tranquility, providing a peaceful retreat after a day filled with adventures on the big island. Outside, you have the jacuzzi, an outdoor lounge, and a cute dining area. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to minimize environmental impact without compromising on luxury and comfort. From eco-friendly construction materials to energy-efficient practices, the resort exemplifies a commitment to preserving the natural wonders that surround it. Talk about commitment to the earth!
Now, let’s talk about the food! We woke up to an amazing healthy breakfast. Our hosts, Tony and Gaby used locally sourced, plant-based ingredients PACKED with flavor. We had freshly squeezed orange juice, smoothies, pineapple pancakes, and an impressive selection of fruits!
Lastly, service. Gaby and Tony were attentive, charming and made sure we had everything we needed. From recommending places to visit to making sure we were full. We left VER feeling refreshed, healthy, and happy that we minimized our carbon footprint!
Volcano Eco Retreat is not just a place to stay but a transformative experience for us. We unplugged from the chaos of daily life and reconnected with nature in a way that respects and preserves its delicate balance. Overall, we give this place 5 stars!
