Your Dream Fiji Vacation Destination Awaits You – This is The Nanuku Resort!
The Fashionable Frequent Flyers got to fulfil a three-year long dream – we finally made it to Fiji! And our introduction to this beautiful paradise was a four-night stay at the incredible Nanuku Resort. If you’re asking yourself, damn, why does the name of this resort sound so familiar? Well, one, you’re clearly a fan of the series The Bachelorette, but, two, and more importantly, that’s right, y’all, this is one of the resorts on the island of Viti Letu that hosted the Charity Lawson season of the Bachelorette. So, if it was good enough for one of the most popular and enduring reality TV shows, lets just say my expectations were high! And wouldn’t you know it, they exceeded each one of my expectations and then some! Here are a few reasons why you should add Nanuku Resort to your dream destinations to visit in 2024.
Reason One: Plush Accommodations and Unmatched Beauty Around the Resort! As a luxury traveler and unique accommodations expert, one thing that I prioritize on all my trips is ensuring that I stay at a hotel with excellent room/suite offerings. Many will try and tell you that it’s not that important if you’re going to be out and about most of your vacation! They are WRONG! It’s critical! That new place is your new home for the duration of the trip. In Fiji, upon arrival, they welcome you with a “Bula! Welcome Home.” It’s the recognition that you’re a resident for the duration of your stay. The accommodations at Nanuku Resort were spectacular — we stayed at a one-bedroom beachfront Villa, and it was all that and then some. It featured a living room, dining area, small kitchen nook, one king size bedroom, an impressive bathroom with two vanity areas, free standing tub, indoor shower and outdoor showers (plural). The villa also had a plunge pool, beach hut, swinging bench, outdoor dining area, and direct access to the beach. Ooooh, there was also an outdoor shower by the plunge pool. It literally HAD EVERYTHING! (Pro Tip: Nanuku resort offers floating breakfast and the scene at the plunge pool is beyond incredible)!
Reason two: The Staff! I can’t say enough about the amazing staff at this wonderful resort. Literally every single person you meet has a smile on their face and greets you with a warm Bula! It doesn’t matter if you’re seeing them for the first time or for the ten thousandth time. The staff are genuinely happy and willing to engage with the guests. And nothing enhances a trip more than such warmth. While all the staff were great, there were three standouts to me personally that I’m going to namedrop: Jerry, Marika, and Nanda. These three individuals treated me like family and I can honestly say that their presence turned a trip that was excellent to beyond imaginable! A heartfelt thank you to them. Jerry and Marika took Linda and I on the wonderful Waisese Falls hike and cliff jumping excursion. We also got to kick it with Jerry on the sunset cruise, which was awesome. Marika led us through the fire stone walking ceremony, which was very educational and an honor to be included in this cultural ceremony. And Nanda was with us every step of our trip. Our most cherished time was when she helped make memorable our treetop dinner. I hope y’all get to visit when these wonderful people are still there.
Reason Three: Cultural Immersion. I think what made this resort unique is that the programs and offerings available were really geared towards teaching you about Fijian culture. From the torch lighting ceremony to the cooking class to the Kava tasting ceremony, our stay was marked with joy and learning, and it made for a more fulfilling trip. I’ve always said that one of the best things about going to a new country or region is the opportunity to learn something about the culture and people that you’re visiting. Nanuku resort certainly embodied that spirit and brought Fijian culture to all of its guests. For that, I remain eternally grateful.
Reason Four: The excursions/activities. Listen, if you’re traveling with me, expect a packed itinerary. And, even to a tropical paradise, that’s going to be no different. We had an exciting schedule of diverse activities with Nanuku. We hiked and cliff dived Waisese Waterfall, went on sunset cruise and popped bottles in the middle of the ocean, kayaked the calm Taunovo river waters, which was lush as ever, did cooking classes, participated in the torch lighting ceremony and so much more. This was an exciting trip that didn’t leave any moment wanting.
Reason Five: The food! My favorite thing about the food offerings at the Nanuku resort was the diversity of choice and the sustained quality of ALL the offerings. As an all-round healthy individual, I tend to be pretty particular about what I eat day-to-day. But, when I’m on vacation, I love a good mix of indulgence and healthy eating. Nanuku offered precisely that — at no point did I ever feel like an option that suited my particular needs was unavailable. I also absolutely adored the Fijian options, as well as the wonderful ceviche dish we cooked at the traditional cooking class. I’m a huge fan of coconuts, so the fact that it is a prevalent part of Fijian cooking only made things better. And, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible floating breakfast spread. I’ve seen many a spread on social media; without a doubt, this was the most incredible! And the presentation as superb.
